L officially turned 3 last week and the whole world has not flipped upside down for her. We managed to help her accomplish most things on her "When I am 3 I can do that." list. Here is a recap of the posted list along with how we accomplished giving in to our 3 year old.
Going to school, the big school with A, = We actually enrolled her today in Sunday School. She is no longer in the nursery but in a real class with 4 other students and a great teacher. She pitched a fit when we dropped her off, complete with baby talk "DDDaaaaddddyyyy Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy..." (Mom had left already as Dad is better at this than me!) The director told us to leave and she would be fine so Dad lied and said he had to go potty and would be right back. We checked in on her once more before we headed to church and she was having fun coloring. A checked in with her at music and at Jesus's birthday party after class and L seemed to hold up pretty well. We are not sure if she will let us drop her off again even though she learned about Jesus and his parents Mary and Joseph (he makes things with wood even). She also keeps singing the song they learned "Mary Rocks the Baby" along with some hand gestures.
ETA: L just came up to me with her backpack and said "Can I go to preschool Mom? Please, Please."
Taking dance lessons= She has asked me daily "I am three now did you sign me up yet?" Thanks to great Christmas gifts from both sets of Grandparents I will be signing L up for dance lessons at the YMCA which will include tap, ballet, and jazz.
Taking gymnastics (which will probably happen since she doesn't need me to participate at age 3),= Hoping that dance lessons and ice skate lessons will make her forget about gymnastics.
Riding her bike in the street=Sorry poor child, this will not happen for a long time. Good thing, it is so cold we don't have the bikes out.
Becoming a dance teacher= Hopefully taking dance lessons will convince her that she can still teach Mom and Dad but others should be left to professionals.
Wearing cowgirl boots to the mall (her dress-up boots)= She has moved onto black princess shoes in the snow. It happened today. We do cave every now and then.
Eating candy for dinner= There is no candy in the house to tempt her. Mom sacrificed and ate every piece to be found.
Wearing 8 ponytails at one time= She did have in 6 or so the other day. Not exactly a trend setter.
and my favorite, Driving the truck= We did even better than letting her drive, we bought HER a "carvan" (minivan in normal talk). She is so excited about her new carvan, she runs into the garage to look at it every now and then. She loves her seat in the middle row with her baby in the carseat in the rear.
