A Weeks Worth of Doctors

A had a follow-up chiro appointment Tuesday so we all headed in. He has made a quick and remarkable recovery from his fall on Mother's Day. L and R were checked out as well and according to our chiro, L is ready to start soccer practice this Friday! I just had the normal aches and pains from carrying this big belly around.

R had his GI appointment Wednesday and the doctor gave us a bunch of options. After our meeting he did a rectal exam to get a fresh stool sample and took it to his desk to examine it. He returned with the diagnosis that he is not absorbing fat. We decided to test his stool again for C difficile toxin (which wasn't tested before), put him on Alinia antibiotics, they are not absorbed just pushed through the digestive tract, for parasitic infection/small bowel bacterial overgrowth, and lastly put him back on soy formula, 8-12 oz a day, to put more fat into his diet. I am also doing a food diary that will be analyzed by his nutritionist to see if there is a food trigger. If we don't see regular stools in a week, we will go in to have an upper endoscopy to assess for allergy, infection, and inflammation of his intestines and bowels. We are hoping it is just giardia and will be gone with the antibiotics.

Yesterday the whole family ventured to the big city for our perinatal appointment and sonogram. We didn't find out the sex of the baby but we do know it is a big one! The baby measured 34 weeks and 5lbs, 9oz. The doctor said we were looking at around 8+ lbs at 40 weeks, I can't wait to push that out in 6 weeks. My placenta is already showing signs of calcification, like with R, which is a tad concerning. He told us not to go overdue (42 weeks) but we are still going to be induced on the due date of the 21st. This sonogram today dated us on the 17th so the 21st should give the little stinker plenty of time to come out on it's own. The baby's heart was perfect. We watched it beat for a couple minutes to make sure it was regular, and so we didn't have to do the fetal heart echo. The baby would roll over and we would lose the picture, the doctor would search again for the beating heart, and A would say "There are the 4 chambers of the heart again." as soon as it beat on the screen again. A and L were both very interested in the growing baby. It's poor little face was squished (It is head down) but we did get a couple good looks at the fat cheeks. All the organs were growing normally and this little one is very active. We are excited to have a healthy fat baby in a few weeks.
